COURAGE: Understanding Same-Sex Attraction and the Church’s Response

This seminar provides insights from psycho-social-familial developmental health, as well as the Church’s faith and pastoral perspectives on this matter. It is not meant to be either pro- or anti-LGBTQ+. The seminar explains why the feelings of non-heterosexuality are not chosen by people who experience them, the factors that contribute to them, and the various ways we can respond as a Christ-centered community. Hence, it will also draw on the Church’s faith and pastoral approaches towards understanding and accompanying persons who identify as LGBTQ+. The seminar aims to remove fear, prejudice, and misconceptions that people may have towards them. For any enquires, please email to rodericktheseira@gmail.com. Attending of May Masses 2022

On 25 April, the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth released its latest Advisory on further easing Safe Management Measures (SMMs) for Religious Activities commencing 26 April 2022.  As such, with effect from 1 May 2022, in compliance with the latest Advisory, the following are general measures for our Church:

1. Cessation of Booking for Masses
There will be no need to book for both weekday and weekend Masses. With this relaxation, the faithful may choose to go to any Catholic church to worship.

2. Mass and Religious Activities for:

a. More than 500 persons
Vaccination-Differentiated SMMs (VDS) is still required for congregational worship services and other mask-on religious activities with more than 500 persons at any one time. TraceTogether will be used to verify VDS.

These Masses and activities are opened only to:
1. those fully vaccinated,
2. children 12 and below,
3. those medically ineligible for vaccination

b. 500 persons or less
Both the vaccinated and unvaccinated may take part in such activities.

3. Retain myCatholic.sg Account
All Catholics are strongly encouraged to still retain their myCatholic.sg account. In the event that we need to revert to the Booking of Masses, the myCatholic.sg platform will be used. The myCatholic.sg platform will continue to be developed to include other digital church functions beyond Mass bookings.

4. Safe Distancing in Church
There will no longer be a need for safe distancing in church.

SFX VDS Masses (600 PAX):
• Sat 5.30pm, Sun 9am, Sun 11am

SFX Non-VDS Masses (500 PAX):
• Weekday Masses (except Solemnity Masses)
• Sat 6.30am, Sun 7am, Sun 5.30pm

As per MCCY guidelines, we regret that we may have to refuse entry when the maximum capacity has been reached.

• Wed 25 May (Eve): 8pm (VDS Only)

Booking of Masses: April 2022

Based on the latest Government announcements, myCatholic.sg Mass Booking System will be adjusted to encourage more parishioners to come back to church for Mass. Seating capacity for all weekend Masses will be increased to 450.

Beginning 1 April 2022:

1) NO NEED TO BOOK FOR WEEKDAY MASSES EXCEPT FOR IMPORTANT CHURCH DAYS THAT FALL ON A WEEKDAY

Weekday Mass Bookings will be removed from the system. Churchgoers may attend Weekday Masses at ANY church. To ensure that the venue capacity limit is not breached, Mass attendees will be required to scan in their IDs on arrival so that their presence can be counted.

Masses for all important Feast days, Solemnity and Days of Obligation that fall on a WEEKDAY will require prior bookings as per weekend Masses. Announcements will be made ahead of time to inform the faithful when such special Mass Bookings are required.

For the Month of April, these weekday services will need Mass Bookings:
i. Holy Thursday – 14 April
ii. Good Friday – 15 April

Only one booking is allowed per person for these services, either at one’s registered church or at another church. Bookings made at a church other than one’s registered parish will only be available 3 days ahead of the Mass day.

2) REVISED WEEKEND CAP & BOOKING DAYS

The cap for Weekend Mass Bookings will be increased from 1 to 2 per booking session. This is regardless of whether booking is made at your registered parish or at another church.

With the increase in the Weekend Mass booking quota, there will only be 2 Booking Days for the month.

  • The first Booking Day will have a quota for 3 Weekend Masses.
1 Mass for Holy Thursday (excluding Chrism Mass), 1 Service for Good Friday
  • The second Booking Day will be for 2 weekend in that month and 1 Chrism Mass (on a separate Tab)

3) BOOKINGS FOR CHRISM MASS

All parishioners who wish to attend the Chrism Mass may book in the tab marked “Chrism Mass” in MyCatholic.sg. Chrism Mass will be held at the Church of the Holy Family on 14 April 2022, 10am. Booking for Chrism Mass will commence from 5 April 2022, 9am onwards on a first-come-first-served basis.

Booking of Masses: March 2022

Great News! Our seating capacity for all weekend Masses has been increased to 240. You can also book for Masses at another parish. Based on feedback received, myCatholic.sg Mass Booking System has been enhanced with the following new features. Beginning 1 March 2022:

1. BOOK MASS AT ANOTHER CHURCH
Parishioners will be able to book for Masses at another church – other than their registered church. The permitted booking dates for Masses for another church will be the login date and the following two days’ Masses. Check out the video below on how to book mass at another church:

On booking days, parishioners will have priority of booking in their registered churches for any day’s Masses in the month, subject to the capped numbers. Thus, only registered parishioners can see the whole month’s Mass schedule of the church. Non-registered parishioners wishing to book at another church will only see a 3-day Mass schedule.

2. REVISED CAP
There will be a cap of 1 weekend and 6 weekday Masses per booking (increased from 5 weekday Masses). This is regardless of whether bookings are made at your registered church or at another. This cap will be applied to ALL PARISHIONERS regardless of the church they are registered at.

3. BOOKING FOR STATIONS OF THE CROSS
Parishioners will only need to book for Mass in order to attend both Stations of the Cross and Mass for all weekday evening Masses during Lent. You may scan the QR Code on your entry ticket to access the readings for the Stations of the Cross.

4. STANDARDISED BOOKING CANCELLATION & CUT-OFF TIME
A uniform 1-hour booking cancellation and 45-minute booking cut-off before the Mass time. Please be gracious to cancel your booking earlier if you are unable to attend.

5. MASS ENTRY
Tuesdays & Thursdays Masses via Choir Entrance, all other Masses via Church Foyer and Choir Entrance.

6. BOOKING OF MASSES IN MARCH
This will be made available on the following dates at 12pm:

  • Sat 26 February 2022
  • Tue 1 March 2022
  • Tue 8 March 2022
  • Tue 15 March 2022

Additionally, we would like to highlight that:

  • The availability of public Masses will be subjected to mandatory adherence to the Government’s regulations and advisories.
  • Children aged 12 years and younger can participate in all Masses, regardless of numbers and their vaccination status.
  • Allocation of Mass seats will still be on a first-come-first-served basis, regardless of age.
  • For Vaccinated-only Masses, proof of vaccination status will be checked upon entry.
  • The seating capacity of the churches will not be changed once the Booking cycle has begun unless the change is mandated by the Government’s regulations.
  • Those who have recovered from COVID-19 up to 180 days from the first positive Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test result obtained – will be permitted to book Vaccinated-only Masses.
