Serving with Hospitality and Reverence
The Wardens Ministry has been serving the parish since the Church of St Francis Xavier was established in 1959. As ministers of hospitality, wardens help create a welcoming, safe, and prayerful environment so that all who come to worship may encounter Christ in peace and reverence. Following Christ's example of humble service, every warden strives to serve rather than be served (cf. Matthew 20:28).
What We Do
Wardens assist in ensuring the smooth and orderly celebration of the liturgy by:
- Welcoming and ushering parishioners to their seats before Mass.
- Assisting with the offertory collection.
- Guiding the movement of parishioners during processions and the distribution of Holy Communion.
- Managing the flow of vehicles and assisting with parking on church grounds.
- Supporting parish liturgical celebrations and major feast days, including the preparation of palm branches for Palm Sunday.
Through these acts of service, wardens help foster a peaceful and prayerful environment for worship.
When Do We Serve
Wardens serve during weekend Masses, holy days of obligation, and major parish liturgical celebrations. Members are rostered according to their availability and may also assist at special parish events throughout the year.
Who Can Join
We welcome parishioners who have a heart for service, hospitality, and teamwork. If you enjoy serving the parish community and helping others worship in a safe and orderly environment, we invite you to consider joining the Wardens Ministry. No prior experience is required. Guidance and support will be provided.
