The SFX Biblical Apostolate Team proudly presents The Biblical Roots of the Mass: A Scriptural Explanation of the Roman Missal presented by Helen Chong. This study explains the words in the Mass that Catholics know so well by looking at their biblical roots. After a brief study of the history of the Mass in English and why Pope Benedict XVI issued a new English translation, you will learn about the biblical basis of the following parts of the Mass: the Opening Greeting, the Penitential Rite, the Kyrie Eleison, the Gloria, the Sanctus, the Communion Rite and the Final Blessing. Join SFXBAT to study where the words of the Mass come from in the Bible and discover the hidden key to the deeper spiritual meaning of each and every part of the Mass.

In modern times, no part of the Bible has been more attacked and subjected to criticism than the four Gospels. Who wrote the Gospels? Do they tell us the truth about Jesus? Are they fact or fiction? When were the Gospels written? What did the Church Fathers believe? What do modern scholars believe?
Join us on a guided tour of the Four Gospels. Find answers to historical questions about the origins of the Gospels. We will also examine the portraits of Jesus that each of the four Gospels gives us, going through the distinctive picture given by each Evangelist.

At all the Lent weekend Masses, parishioners will be given a ‘Lenten Offering’ card. Prayerfully commit to your personal Lenten sacrifice – ideally one for each of the three pillars of Prayer, Fasting, Almsgiving. The completed card will be collected at the end of the Mass. Make a note of your commitment and faithfully fulfill them for the week(s) ahead.
Let us spiritually accompany our RCIA and RCIY Elect/Candidates preparing for the Easter sacraments by picking a name and praying daily for the person. As a way of welcoming him/her into God’s family, you may wish to drop a prayer note in the box provided in the Church, with the recipient’s name indicated by Palm Sunday. All notes will be collected and given at Easter. Let this be our collective Easter gift to welcome our brothers and sisters in Christ into the Church.
Prayer cards are available at the icon of our Blessed Mother and at the back of the Church.
We hope that the reflections in this booklet will help prepare our hearts and minds for the Word this Lenten season, becoming witnesses of Christ’s love.
